SUNNYVALE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- 08/02/05 -- Supertex, Inc. (NASDAQ: SUPX) today introduced the HV9923, a 3-Pin Switch-Mode LED Driver Integrated Circuit (IC) with a regulated output current of 30mA. It can be operated from either a rectified universal AC line range of 85 to 264 VAC or 20 to 400VDC. The pulse width modulated (PWM) peak current controller is ideal for driving multi-LED strings in off-line applications such as decorative lighting, architectural lighting, signage, and incandescent replacements.
With an internal MOSFET (or Power Switch), the HV9923 reduces the external part count in LED designs to only four components (excluding an EMI filter). The HV9923 is a fixed off-time PWM control IC that incorporates constant peak current feedback to maintain delivery of a 30mA current to the LED string.
"The introduction of the HV9923 further strengthens Supertex's family of high-voltage LED drivers and provides a wider variety of options for designers," states Ahmed Masood, Marketing Director at Supertex. "Designs utilizing 30mA versions of LEDs are becoming increasingly popular and this product is an ideal solution for those applications."
Supertex's family of 3-Pin Switch Mode LED Drivers now includes regulated current options of 20mA, 30mA, and 50mA, all of which can efficiently drive LED strings to 80% of the input voltage. All products in this family (including HV9921, HV9922, and HV9923) are available in "Green," 100% RoHS-compliant packaging.
The HV9923 is available in TO-92 (HV9923N3-G) and SOT-89 (HV9923N8-G) packages. Samples are available from stock. Lead-time for production quantities is 4-6 weeks ARO. Pricing is US$0.52 each for both the HV9923N3-G and the HV9923N8-G in 1K quantities.
