Eben and FSF founder Richard Stallman have reportedly got an initial draft, but nobody's gonna see that until long about January when it's released along with an apologia that explains or defends any changes that have been made and why other things haven't been changed.
The draft is going to be positioned as a discussion document. Eben is expecting that 150,000 people and 8,000 organizations will want to put their two cents in and intends to set up advisory committees representing all the different constituencies starting in a few weeks.
The Free Software Foundation is supposed to issue a process document outlining the rules of engagement in November.
The anticipated changes are reportedly modest and conservative, leaving the basic thrust of the GPL alone. It's not an overhaul.
