Prague - Important centre of culture and learning

Prague is the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic and an important centre of culture and learning. It is called Praha in the Czech language which is one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in central Europe. It has been called the “City of a Hundreds Spires” because of its many churches.

The city lies on both banks of the Vltava River, in the central part of the country. A number of bridges connect the two sections of Prague. The Charles Bridge, a stone structure lined with statues of saints, is one of the most famous combined of Gothic architecture and Baroque sculpture. Much of the city’s area is made up of scenic hills.

Old Town Square Old Town, the historic centre of Prague, lies on the right bank of the Vltava, across from Hradčany (Castle Hill). Old Town Hall served as the seat of the city government for hundreds of years. It has a famous clock with statue of the 12 apostles that move every hour. A monument of John Hus, a religious reformer, stands in the middle of the square. The Týn Church was the main church of the Hussite reformers. Many buildings of Charles University, founded in 1348 by King Charles IV of Bohemia are in Old Town.

Wenceslas Square The business center of Prague is in New Town which is also located on the right bank of the river. Much of the New Town area was built during 1800’s. Its Wenceslas Square – which is boulevard lined with hotels, restaurants, and shops – is the busiest street in Prague. The National Museum occupies one end of Wenceslas Square. A statue of Saint Wenceslas stands in front of the museum.

Prague Castle Prague Castle, once the home of the kings of Bohemia, stands on Hradčany, on the left bank of the Vltava River. It houses a number of art treasures, and part of the castle serves as the official residence of the president of Czech Republic.

Vacation rentals and holiday rentals (just check the countles travel directories) are a great alternative for those who wish to have more privacy and space to maneuver, something that hotels don't really have. Staying in a hotel involves tipping porters and valets; there is the added expense of dining out daily. Just like there are hotels everywhere, there are vacation rentals and holiday homes all over the world ready to be booked.

From the initial dream of a vacation in a luxury villa, through the entire trip, every step should be stress free and enjoyable.

I'm offering quality advertising for vacation rentals on my specialized web site ArrangeYourVacation.com and travel advice and the best travel websites on my vacation rentals blog. My client satisfaction rate is extremely high due to my personal contact with each traveler and vacation rental owner.
