Dotmatics Setting New Standard With The Launch of its ELN (Studies Notebook)

BISHOP'S STORTFORD, UNITED KINGDOM -- (Marketwire) -- 04/13/10 -- Scientific software company Dotmatics Limited is pleased to announce the official launch of its web based ELN at the upcoming European UGM on 27th April 2010.

Studies Notebook is a fully web-based Electronic Notebook (ELN) running on Windows™ or Apple Macs™ that supports chemistry, biology and ad-hoc research. Studies Notebook is offered as an alternative to desktop tools such as IDBS Biobook™ and CambridgeSoft ELN™.

Studies Notebook is quite different to other ELNs. It does not require an install on a user's desktop as they access the application via a web-browser. The application runs on a single server within an organizations network.

Studies Notebook provides some key advantages over many ELNs:

- Immediately searchable - other ELNs store data in an inaccessible way, Studies Notebook is fully searchable by every field!

- All platforms - most ELNs only run on Windows, Studies Notebook runs on Windows™, Apple Mac, Linux™ and even the Apple iPad!

- Speed/performance - many ELNs are often slow for searching, navigation and sign-off, Studies Notebook is always fast

Selected features of Studies Notebook include:

- Built-in chemistry such as reaction management and searching, chemical registration integration and built-in calculations.

- Ability to store and manage complex files such as images, videos and all other file types.

- Search live data or view via PDF renditions.

- Integrates with all other Dotmatics products.

- Process excel and delimited files to extract data into a structured format

- Built-in visualization and analysis tools

- Visit our website for more information

Stephen Gallagher, Chief Executive Officer of Dotmatics said, "We are very excited about Studies Notebook. Since the conception of electronic notebooks there has always been the vision of providing more information to users than is possible with paper notebooks. Customers report that ELNs they have looked at fall short of this vision because of the way they store data, rendering it inaccessible to query and visualization tools. Users were left with only a few methods for searching such a simple text search. By building on top of our popular browser platform, all information in Studies Notebook is conveniently stored in a way that lends itself to mining, reporting and visualization in an efficient manner. The reaction from the scientific community has been extremely positive and we already have a number of clients who have committed to using Studies Notebook as part of their solution."

If a machine can invent, does this mean the end of the patent system as we know it? The patent system, both in the US and Europe, allows companies to protect their inventions and helps foster innovation. However, Artificial Intelligence (AI) could be set to disrupt the patent system as we know it. This talk will examine how AI may change the patent landscape in the years to come. Furthermore, ways in which companies can best protect their AI related inventions will be examined from both a US and...

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
