TUSTIN, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/09/12 -- Arium today announced support for ARM-based Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI). As part of the recently announced SourcePoint™ 6.9.1 debugger, Arium provides a seamless, easy-to-use, UEFI-aware development environment. Engineers have access to toolbar selections to discover and debug all phases of UEFI code.

The move from traditional assembly-level BIOS code to C/C++, coupled with significant portions of publicly available source code led ARM developers to the UEFI standard. UEFI improves the hardware-software interface by unifying the boot procedure between the operating system and a target processor. Recent UEFI releases help enable original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to standardize the boot procedure on hardware platforms based on the ARM processor. UEFI provides an interface between Operating System and platform firmware at boot time, and supports an architecture-independent mechanism for adding and debugging device drivers at run-time.
