New LANsurveyor 9.6 Expands To Include Linux Asset Management

Support for Linux Brings Ease-of-Use, Low-cost, and Administration to the Linux Platform

Neon Software has announced the immediate availability of LANsurveyor version 9.6 for Windows. Network administrators utilize LANsurveyor to efficiently safeguard and monitor their networks with automated graphical network mapping, asset management reports, network monitoring, and intrusion detection.

LANsurveyor 9.6 has expanded its feature set to include:
* Support for Linux clients
* New network autodiscovery techniques
* Faster layout of network diagrams
* Better asset management capabilities
* Enhancements to Continuous Scan Intrusion Detection system, including automatically saving maps on a schedule—an excellent audit trail for compliance regulations.

"LANsurveyor is an excellent product and an even better value," said David Tunbridge, IT Manager, Dean & Chapter of Canterbury Cathedral. “With every new release, Neon Software manages to make the software more powerful–and the new 9.6 is no exception.”

“With a strong customer base of more than 10,000 companies, we have had exposure to thousands of networks and have been able to fine-tune and enhance our automated network mapping technology on all major operating systems,” said Craig Isaacs, president of Neon Software. “LANsurveyor 9.6 customers will be the direct beneficiaries of that technology.”

Select New Features in LANsurveyor 9.6
* New Neon Responder v 5.5 :The Neon Responder (LANsurveyor client software) now supports all major operating systems, including Windows, Mac OS, and now Linux. The new Neon Responder for Intel-compatible Linux systems based on the 2.4 or later kernel supports a number of Linux installations, including Red Hat, Cent OS, SuSE, Debian, and Ubuntu.
The new release also supports enhanced computer-specific information reports, including make, model, and CPU marketing name—even for Intel-based Mac OS systems.
* New Automated Map Algorithms: LANsurveyor 9.6 creates even more accurate network diagrams than version 9.5. WANs, VLANs, router-to-switch connectivity, switch-to-switch connectivity, VMware, and more are all automatically discovered and mapped.
* Faster layout of network diagrams:New algorithms create and display most network diagrams more quickly and provide multiple levels of undo/redo.
* Continuous Scan Intrusion Detection:New enhancements to Continuous Scan allow maps to be saved automatically on a schedule. In addition, when new information is discovered about a node (including a new Neon Responder installation), that node is automatically updated on the network diagram.

LANsurveyor, which can map any size LAN or WAN, is £449.00. Neon Responders, the LANsurveyor client software used for asset management, reporting, and management, are available in add-on packs for between £6 and £12 per node, depending upon quantity purchased.
