SUNNYVALE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 12/11/12 -- Proofpoint Inc., (NASDAQ: PFPT) a leading security-as-a-service provider, today announced that VMware has implemented the Proofpoint suite of solutions including enhanced archive, eDiscovery and compliance for the VMware Zimbra® platform. This successful implementation as well as continued collaboration between the two companies further addresses the advanced needs around data protection, archiving and compliance for global enterprises.
VMware's primary reason for deploying Proofpoint's suite of solutions was to automate and streamline their current system, to save money and to implement an archiving system that integrates with Zimbra as well as Exchange.
"Proofpoint will be instrumental in helping us set up a more efficient archiving process to meet compliance regulations and speed up responses to ediscovery requests," said Mark Egan, CIO at VMware. "We wanted an affordable email archiving and management solution with minimal end user interaction, search and off-site storage capabilities and an efficient legal preservation process. Proofpoint has provided security for our email for years and has proven to be a trustworthy partner."
Proofpoint has also worked with VMware Zimbra to integrate its solutions with the VMware Zimbra platform to provide users with enhanced eDiscovery, compliance and email security. Proofpoint Enterprise Archive and Proofpoint Enterprise Protection are both compatible with VMware Zimbra, and provide customers with advanced threat protection, spam detection, phishing protection, data privacy, virus protection, dynamic email reputation and data loss prevention capabilities. Proofpoint Enterprise Privacy is also compatible with Zimbra.
Proofpoint Brings New Functionality to VMware Zimbra
VMware Zimbra is a collaboration hub for email, contacts, calendars, documents, file sharing, tasks, social media and enterprise applications. VMware Zimbra supports Firefox, Chrome, Safari or Internet Explorer on any desktop or device, and works with Windows, Mac and Linux desktops.
The compatibility and integration of Proofpoint solutions with the VMware Zimbra platform provides users the ability to leverage the following:
- Proofpoint Enterprise Archive is a market leading cloud-based service that works seamlessly with Zimbra to archive email, IM, and social media content in accordance with regionally specific retention requirements. Zimbra customers can manage legal hold and eDiscovery obligations through fully automated processes, with fast search performance uniquely backed by a Service Level Agreement (SLA).
- In addition to the Proofpoint Enterprise Archive integration, the Proofpoint Enterprise Protection virtual appliance delivers best-in-class, inbound and outbound email security and management features in one cost-effective, easy-to-use solution. VMware Zimbra customers can protect their mission-critical email infrastructure from outside threats including spam, phishing, malware, unpredictable email volumes and other forms of objectionable or dangerous content before they hit the enterprise gateway.
- The Proofpoint Enterprise Privacy virtual appliance suite provides "defense in depth" data loss prevention for all sorts of private information. It protects private information in email, defends against leaks of confidential information and assists VMware Zimbra customers with their compliance with common international, industry and US data protection regulations, such as HIPAA, GLBA and PCI-DSS.
Proofpoint suite of solutions allows Zimbra customers to track, manage, and control important content, regardless of where it resides, by proactively managing eDiscovery risk and costs from archived email to files and documents living outside of managed repositories.
