Rick Kearney, CEO and founder of Mainline Information Systems, has promoted John McCarthy to president and chief operating officer. McCarthy joined Mainline in 2009 as senior vice president of sales and marketing and was subsequently promoted to executive vice president and COO. This newly announced promotion culminates the successful implementation of a three-year plan to transform and diversify Mainline’s business.
Under McCarthy’s leadership, Mainline has expanded its focus, primarily as an IBM hardware reseller, toward IT solutions such as business analytics and has retooled Mainline’s professional services division. Mainline completed three acquisitions in the past three years, the latest being the purchase of Software by Design Inc., a boutique IBM Cognos and Netezza service provider.
“We feel very fortunate to have John as the leader of our organization. He has transformed our company in several key areas and has dramatically improved our day-to-day operations, yielding positive results for our employees and clients. We are looking forward to continuing to make new strides into business analytics and services as well as expanding other areas of our business,” said Kearney.
In this role McCarthy will be responsible for all aspects of Mainline’s business, including customer retention, employee satisfaction and strong partner relationships that will drive long-term profitability for Mainline.
“It means a tremendous amount to me being recognized by Rick as well as having the support and close working relationships with the other Mainline executives. The leadership team we have assembled combined with the world class sales and technical talent that Mainline is known for has us poised for great success. I am excited to embrace the new challenges that are associated with our continuous transformational efforts as we accelerate the upward momentum we have created over these past few years,” said McCarthy.
The announcement was made at Mainline’s national sales meeting, where record growth for the company was also announced to the more than 400 employees in attendance.
McCarthy has spent more than 25 years in the technology industry and has experience with multinational, publicly traded companies as well as with small, independent startups. He has held leadership positions with EMC, StorageApp, HP, McData, CNT and Virtual Iron.
