PLEASANTON, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 02/13/13 -- Percona, the company that makes MySQL faster and more reliable, announced the addition of HP and Amazon Web Services as conference keynote speakers. Percona also announced new conference sponsors HP, GenieDB, GreenSQL, DaniWeb, Software Developer's Journal, and Web and PHP Magazine. Early Bird ticket pricing is available through February 24 for the Percona Live MySQL Conference and Expo 2013 and single day tickets are now available. In addition, proposals are now being accepted for Birds of a Feather and Lightning Talks.
The 2012 conference was widely regarded as one of the best MySQL-focused conferences in years. With sponsorship and speakers from some of the world's most admired brands, the conference was enthusiastically received by more than 1,000 attendees, many of whom praised the breadth and caliber of the sessions. The conference was so popular that Percona added a fourth day to the 2013 conference schedule.
Confirmed Keynote Presenters
Simone Brunozzi, Senior Technology Evangelist at Amazon Web Services, will speak on "Databases in the Cloud: Present and Future."
Brian Aker, a Fellow at Hewlett Packard's Cloud Division, is a returning keynote presenter for the 2013 conference.
Birds of a Feather
Birds of a Feather (BOF) sessions enable attendees with interests in the same project or topic to enjoy some quality face time. BOFs can be organized for individual projects or broader topics (e.g., best practices, open data, standards). Any attendee or conference speaker can propose and moderate an engaging BOF. Percona will post the selected topics and moderators online and provide a meeting space and time. The deadline for BOF submissions is February 24.
Lightning Talk
Lightning Talks provide an opportunity for attendees to propose, explain, exhort, or rant on any MySQL-related topic for five minutes. They might include a new idea, successful project, cautionary story, quick tip, or demonstration. All submissions will be reviewed and the top 10 will be selected to present during the one-hour Lightning Talks session during the Wednesday night Community Networking Reception. Lighthearted, fun or otherwise entertaining submissions are highly welcome. The deadline for submitting a Lightning Talk topic is February 24.
Post-Conference Events
On April 26, conference attendees are invited to attend complimentary, specialized MySQL sessions including:
- SkySQL & MariaDB will host the 2nd Annual MySQL® & Cloud Database Solutions Day, a free one-day event featuring tutorials and interactive discussions around the MySQL® and Maria® databases, the Cloud, and High Availability.

Percona is pleased to welcome HP as a Diamond Plus sponsor, GenieDB as a Platinum sponsor, GreenSQL as an exhibitor, and DaniWeb, Software Developer's Journal and Web and PHP Magazine as media sponsors.
