Bitrock Unveils Linux-Supported InstallBuilder 3.8

Simplifies The Installation Process Of Multiplatform Software

BitRock announced the release of BitRock InstallBuilder 3.8. The development tool turns the application packaging, distribution and deployment process of multiplatform applications into a fast, easy and cost effective task for independent software vendors and custom application developers. The latest release includes native support for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, HP-UX, AIX, Solaris, FreeBSD, IRIX and Linux on IBM z Series.

Using BitRock InstallBuilder allows software vendors to present an intuitive installation process to end-users, reducing installation-related support requests while making a positive first impression. The ability to build installers for all supported platforms from one project file allows for easy maintenance and updating of installers, so that developers can spend more time on their primary development tasks.

BitRock InstallBuilder combines robust functionality with a very easy to use interface that allows for rapid development and painless integration with in-house build systems. Developers can use GUI, human-friendly XML, or command line interfaces to quickly develop native, self-contained installers that do not require bundling a Java runtime or a self-extraction step.

Convenient built-in actions automate much of the building process, including auto-detecting a Java Runtime, changing file permissions and ownership, substituting text in a file, adding environment variables, adding directories to the path, creating symbolic links, changing the Windows registry, and launching external scripts. InstallBuilder also includes extensive customization capabilities and support for 16 languages.
