Lightstreamer, the high-performance AJAX-Comet engine, has been extended with the .NET Technology Toolkit and now provides an option for feed integration by writing Lightstreamer Adapters with Microsoft .NET languages.
Lightstreamer is a push engine conceived for live data distribution to any kind of client application (thin, thick, mobile, etc.). In the case of thin clients, it relies on the AJAX-Comet paradigm to stream real-time data to any HTML browser without the need to download or install anything on the client. The optimized use of HTTP together with bandwidth control and adaptive streaming techniques results in a robust, efficient and highly scalable data delivery.
Lightstreamer Server can be integrated with any data feed through custom Adapters that previously had to be written in Java. Now a toolkit has been released that provides the option to write the Adapters with Microsoft .NET languages.
"The core of Lightstreamer Server is a high performance and very robust Java component, with six years of maturity" said Alessandro Alinone, CTO of Lightstreamer. "Now the market has asked us to open up Lightstreamer interfaces to .NET technology. We have responded to these requests on three levels: server-side integration, thick client-side integration, thin ATLAS client-side integration."
An alpha version of the Lightstreamer .NET client library is also available, so that any .NET client application is able to receive live data from Lightstreamer Server.
