The GL Company Announces the Availability of its New Really Real Time(R) Inquiry Suite for the Oracle(R) E-Business Suite

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Oct. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The GL Company, a certified member of the Oracle(R) PartnerNetwork and the leader in the Accounting Intelligence market, announces the availability of the Really Real Time(R) Inquiry Suite for the Oracle E-Business Suite. The GL Company is a long-time provider of real-time inquiry for Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and World software and has now expanded its solutions to provide real-time reporting and inquiry capabilities for users of the Oracle E-Business Suite. Live demos of The GL Company solutions will take place at Oracle OpenWorld at the Moscone Center West in San Francisco October 22-26, 2006.

Real-time reporting and inquiry present challenges in Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne and World software and the Oracle E-Business Suite, and the Inquiry Suite is designed to enable users to run time-consuming reports in just seconds and create real-time inquiries for rapid review and analysis without assistance from IT. The Inquiry Suite is the only solution that uses the Oracle database as the data warehouse. Unlike Business Intelligence (BI) tools that require data to be moved and run in batch, the Inquiry Suite leverages "virtual OLAP" [On-Line Analytical Processing], turning relational data into real-time summary information.

Foster's Group, the global premium-branded beverage company, relies on Oracle's JD Edwards EnterpriseOne, the Oracle E-Business Suite, and has also benefited from the use of the Inquiry Suite for JD Edwards. Foster's provided input to The GL Company during the development of the Inquiry Suite for the Oracle E-Business Suite, and Foster's is the first company to implement the new solution.

David Cooper, Finance Team Leader - Enterprise Solutions Group, Foster's IT, said, "The GL Company is unique in that it has been able to build a business application based on the concepts of OLAP technology which links directly into our real-time Oracle relational database without the need to move/stage the data to another database. What's impressive though, is the speed within which inquiries come back. Paper reports, some which were taking hours to run, can now be online inquiries, shared amongst a department, that run in seconds."

The Inquiry Suite, currently deployed in a growing number of businesses in North America, Europe, and Australasia, is based on the principles of Accounting Intelligence -- a discipline that delivers real-time visibility of financial information to business users and helps accountants accelerate the month-end close and other processes. Using the Inquiry Suite, accountants and business unit managers can have up-to-the-second information in real time, with complete confidence in the accuracy of the figures. With just a few mouse clicks, a CFO can drill down from a high-level consolidation Profit and Loss account to the details of the underlying transactions.

"For users of Oracle JD Edwards and the Oracle E-Business Suite, The GL Company solution enables rapid access to the critical information in the database. In this way, as a member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork, The GL Company makes a significant contribution to the power and value of Oracle solutions for customers worldwide," said Robert BuWalda, Sr. Director of Industry ISVs, Oracle.

See a live demonstration of The GL Company solution during Oracle OpenWorld 2006 at Booth 3718 in the Moscone Center West. For more information, attend The GL Company education session "Really Real Time Budgeting", session ID S283291, Thursday October 26 at 1:30 pm PDT at 60 Hilton Hotel, Franciscan Room A.

"People are a lot more knowledgeable about APIs now. There are two types of people who work with APIs - IT people who want to use APIs for something internal and the product managers who want to do something outside APIs for people to connect to them," explained Roberto Medrano, Executive Vice President at SOA Software, in this SYS-CON.tv interview at Cloud Expo, held Nov 4–6, 2014, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA.
Performance is the intersection of power, agility, control, and choice. If you value performance, and more specifically consistent performance, you need to look beyond simple virtualized compute. Many factors need to be considered to create a truly performant environment. In his General Session at 15th Cloud Expo, Harold Hannon, Sr. Software Architect at SoftLayer, discussed how to take advantage of a multitude of compute options and platform features to make cloud the cornerstone of your online presence.

DevOps Summit 2015 New York, co-located with the 16th International Cloud Expo - to be held June 9-11, 2015, at the Javits Center in New York City, NY - announces that it is now accepting Keynote Proposals. The widespread success of cloud computing is driving the DevOps revolution in enterprise IT. Now as never before, development teams must communicate and collaborate in a dynamic, 24/7/365 environment. There is no time to wait for long development cycles that produce software that is obsolete at launch. DevOps may be disruptive, but it is essential.
Wearable devices have come of age. The primary applications of wearables so far have been "the Quantified Self" or the tracking of one's fitness and health status. We propose the evolution of wearables into social and emotional communication devices. Our BE(tm) sensor uses light to visualize the skin conductance response. Our sensors are very inexpensive and can be massively distributed to audiences or groups of any size, in order to gauge reactions to performances, video, or any kind of presentation. In her session at @ThingsExpo, Jocelyn Scheirer, CEO & Founder of Bionolux, will discuss ho...

We certainly live in interesting technological times. And no more interesting than the current competing IoT standards for connectivity. Various standards bodies, approaches, and ecosystems are vying for mindshare and positioning for a competitive edge. It is clear that when the dust settles, we will have new protocols, evolved protocols, that will change the way we interact with devices and infrastructure. We will also have evolved web protocols, like HTTP/2, that will be changing the very core of our infrastructures. At the same time, we have old approaches made new again like micro-services...
Enthusiasm for the Internet of Things has reached an all-time high. In 2013 alone, venture capitalists spent more than $1 billion dollars investing in the IoT space. With "smart" appliances and devices, IoT covers wearable smart devices, cloud services to hardware companies.
