Virtual Bridges Introduces Local Storage and Eliminates Need for Expensive NAS with Latest Release of VERDE™

Virtual Bridges, Inc. today released VERDE™ 7.1, an update to its award-winning, high-performance virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) solution. This latest version now supports GlusterFS, a market-leading clustered file system, removing the need for any external storage in a VDI implementation and further extending Virtual Bridges’ lead as the most performance-efficient and cost-effective virtual desktop solution on the market.

“With our Storage Optimizer™ and Cache I/O™ technology, Virtual Bridges has led the industry for years with the lowest storage cap-ex, reducing storage costs for customers upwards of 80 percent,” said Jon Senger, chief strategy officer at Virtual Bridges. “VERDE 7.1 takes our commitment a step further by eliminating the need for expensive NAS storage, further reducing the total cost of ownership required to deploy VDI across an enterprise.”

VERDE is a private cloud desktop virtualization solution that provides secure anytime, anywhere access to end-user devices, files, applications and programs. In addition to new storage advantages, VERDE 7.1 includes hardened security, Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) 8.0 connection broker support, Windows 8.1 Client and Guest OS support, and Windows Server 2012 Guest OS support. The solution is now also available for white labeling.

A fully integrated, all-in-one private cloud solution, VERDE delivers a simple but powerful feature set that costs approximately 60 percent less than competitive solutions. VERDE is available as a hosted or on premises solution and features fast provisioning and deployment, broad support for Windows and Linux, optimized storage with Cache I/O technology, and stateless clustering for high availability and fast and flexible scaling.

Contextual Analytics of various threat data provides a deeper understanding of a given threat and enables identification of unknown threat vectors. In his session at @ThingsExpo, David Dufour, Head of Security Architecture, IoT, Webroot, Inc., discussed how through the use of Big Data analytics and deep data correlation across different threat types, it is possible to gain a better understanding of where, how and to what level of danger a malicious actor poses to an organization, and to determin...

The hierarchical architecture that distributes "compute" within the network specially at the edge can enable new services by harnessing emerging technologies. But Edge-Compute comes at increased cost that needs to be managed and potentially augmented by creative architecture solutions as there will always a catching-up with the capacity demands. Processing power in smartphones has enhanced YoY and there is increasingly spare compute capacity that can be potentially pooled. Uber has successfully ...
Cloud computing delivers on-demand resources that provide businesses with flexibility and cost-savings. The challenge in moving workloads to the cloud has been the cost and complexity of ensuring the initial and ongoing security and regulatory (PCI, HIPAA, FFIEC) compliance across private and public clouds. Manual security compliance is slow, prone to human error, and represents over 50% of the cost of managing cloud applications. Determining how to automate cloud security compliance is critical...
Enterprises have taken advantage of IoT to achieve important revenue and cost advantages. What is less apparent is how incumbent enterprises operating at scale have, following success with IoT, built analytic, operations management and software development capabilities - ranging from autonomous vehicles to manageable robotics installations. They have embraced these capabilities as if they were Silicon Valley startups.
Disruption, Innovation, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Leadership and Management hear these words all day every day... lofty goals but how do we make it real?
