Spectra Logic and CommVault Team to Significantly Lower the Cost of Data Protection, Management and Access

Spectra Logic today announced it has joined forces with CommVault® to significantly lower the cost of data protection, management and access. Data management and movement by CommVault Simpana® software, coupled with exceptionally affordable disk and tape tiers from Spectra Logic, remove the complexities of tiered storage and provide organizations with a powerful, simplified approach to managing massive amounts of information. The company also announced that it has been certified as a CommVault Technology Alliance Partner.

“Organizations worldwide face continuing challenges in managing and protecting their data, particularly with the prevailing desire to retain data for longer, often indefinite periods of time,” said Jeff Echols, senior director, product and solutions marketing, CommVault. “Combining Simpana software, which allows organizations to protect, manage and access information regardless of where the data resides, with Spectra Logic’s highly reliable nTier Verde disk and T-Series tape library platforms, provides customers with very affordable storage and effective, easy to manage data protection, backup and archive.”

Ideal for data-intensive environments, the joint CommVault and Spectra Logic solution provides a scalable, cost effective data management platform that addresses the performance and storage requirements for secure, reliable backup and archive. The front-end architecture consists of the CommVault Windows CommServe® Server, which provides policy and configuration management, and CommVault Media Agent Servers (Windows, Unix or Linux), which intelligently index data copies and serve as data transport engines between backup/archive clients and backend media. The back-end storage tiers consist of Spectra nTier Verde for nearline disk storage, and Spectra T-Series Tape Libraries for dense, low cost, long term data retention, backup and archive. Customers can confidently deploy the joint CommVault and Spectra Logic solution, which has been tested and validated as part of the Technology Alliance Partner program and is supported by both companies.

“Massive growth in storing and managing all types of data creates challenges that are driving many organizations to seek enhanced solutions for data protection and long-term storage,” said Bruce Kornfeld, acting chief marketing officer for Spectra Logic. “Pairing the powerful CommVault Simpana platform with Spectra Logic disk and tape technologies provides an extremely scalable, cost effective data management solution that will help organizations of all sizes spend less time and money today and into the future.”

In addition to all the benefits, IoT is also bringing new kind of customer experience challenges - cars that unlock themselves, thermostats turning houses into saunas and baby video monitors broadcasting over the internet. This list can only increase because while IoT services should be intuitive and simple to use, the delivery ecosystem is a myriad of potential problems as IoT explodes complexity. So finding a performance issue is like finding the proverbial needle in the haystack.
