How Red Hat is Becoming the Platform of Choice for the Private Cloud

Red Hat Enterprise Linux has been gaining steam among the enterprise for quite some time. There are four key areas in which Red Hat Enterprise has made its presence known as a major player: physical deployment, traditional virtualization implementations, public cloud scenarios and private cloud platforms. The agility that Red Hat Enterprise offers to the data center via open stack resources makes a compelling case among all of the other options. Let’s take a look at some of the reasons it’s becoming the platform of choice for the private cloud:

  1. Physical deployment. The purpose of the OS is to make the hardware work and work efficiently. Red Hat works alongside Intel to make sure that its Red Hat Enterprise Linux is able to make the best possible use of the processor architecture and then be able to take that power and push it through the entire stack. This has created a rock solid platform with the life cycle of a full decade.
  2. Traditional virtualization environments. Red Hat Enterprise Linux stacks up well against the competition in traditional virtualized environments. In fact, Red Hat has specifically been developed to be used in consolidation and virtualized environments, and has proven itself again and again.
  3. Public cloud. Red Hat has worked very closely with partner Open Stack to make sure that their Enterprise Linux integrates seamlessly in the cloud, both as a host and as a guest. This provides the kind of interoperability and reliability that customers have come to expect.
  4. Private cloud. This partnership with Open Stack not only fuels Red Hat Enterprise Linux in the public cloud, but provides a high degree of agility within the data center.

The latest version of Red Hat Enterprise Linux will release soon. While in development, both customers and community users have provided a great deal of feedback and bug fixes. The number of tools included has increased, especially in the area of automating the provisioning of servers in larger environments.
