Simba Technologies Introduces "Certified-for-Tableau" Custom ODBC Driver Program

"Yep, It Works with Tableau": New Certification Program Provides Tableau Interoperability Validation for SimbaEngine SDK-Developed Custom ODBC Drivers

VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - August 06, 2014) - Today Simba Technologies Inc.®, the worldwide leader in Big Data connectivity, announced the launch of its "Certified-for-Tableau" custom ODBC Driver program. The certification service is available immediately for developers building fully-featured, high-performance data-connectivity drivers with the SimbaEngine SDK®, Simba's best-in-class ODBC and JDBC software development kit for SQL-enabled and non-SQL data stores.

"Whether they're working with MongoDB, Cassandra, Hive, Impala, or Salesforce data, our customers demand the best software development platform for building drivers," says Simba Technologies CEO Amyn Rajan. "With today's introduction of Simba's Certified-for-Tableau ODBC driver service, developers can validate that ODBC drivers they build with the leading platform for data connectivity development platform are guaranteed to work with the leading data analytics solution."

As part of the new Certified-for-Tableau ODBC driver service offering, Simba Technologies delivers five major components to SimbaEngine ODBC SDK customers:

  • Personalized Tableau Data-connection Customization (TDC) file template for SQL engine optimization
  • TDC File Creation Guide and related documentation
  • Test certification performed by Simba Technologies' engineering team
  • Results detailing test run, pass/fail criteria, and assessment
  • Installer optimization (delivered as an added-value component of the SimbaEngine SDK consulting agreement)

"The value-add is peace of mind," says Simba Technologies COO David Foster. "Whatever their data source, SimbaEngine developers know that when they receive the Simba 'Certified-for-Tableau' seal of approval, their ODBC drivers will just work. Period. The luxury of taking that connectivity and Tableau compatibility for granted means data scientists can get to work on what's most important: analyzing their data."

(Developers whose ODBC drivers do not pass initial validation can address Simba-identified remediation issues and resubmit drivers for additional evaluation.)

For a limited time, the Simba Technologies Certified-for-Tableau program is available to new purchasers of the SimbaEngine ODBC SDK. For more information, visit www.simba.com/simba-certified-for-tableau-l1.

The SimbaEngine Software Development Kit (SDK) is now available in version 9.3. The SimbaEngine SDK is the best-in-class driver-development environment for enterprise data integration. The SimbaEngine SDK 9.3 enables developers to produce ODBC, JDBC, OLE DB or ADO.NET data connectivity to both SQL-enabled and non-SQL data stores. SimbaEngine is the only ODBC SDK to support the latest ODBC 3.8 standard. To learn more about the SimbaEngine SDK, visit www.simba.com/products/simba-engine-sdk.

Simba Technologies' connectivity drivers are available for individual, enterprise, and OEM licensing. For more information and to sign up for a free trial, visit www.simba.com/connectors.

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
