HOB, a market leader in pure software-based remote access solutions, today announced the availability of HOBLink Mobile for Android in Google Play, Google’s online store for purchasing and downloading Android apps.
Now available in Google Play, HOBLink Mobile for Android is an app that provides secure remote access to emails, calendar, contacts and notes in the corporate network. The app offers the ideal solution for ensuring secure BYOD policies, as corporate data can be accessed from the app, but is never downloaded to the user’s device because it remains stored on the company server. IT administrators can rest assured that sensitive business data will remain inaccessible to unauthorized users even if a device is lost or stolen.
Companies participating in the mobile workforce enjoy a competitive advantage through several benefits including increased productivity, streamlined workflow and revenue growth. In the recent past, the use of personal smartphones for business purposes has increased significantly, and it is now considered commonplace to use iOS and Android devices to access corporate applications. HOB CEO Klaus Brandstätter explained, “To succeed in the digital age, companies must be agile and provide their employees with a mechanism for secure remote access that satisfies the employees’ preference to use personal devices and the IT administrators’ mandate for security. HOBLink Mobile for Android does exactly that.”
The HOBLink Mobile client on an Android device communicates with the HOBCOM Universal Server, which is stored in the corporate network. A proprietary HOB communication protocol is used for the entire data exchange, providing a fast, reliable and secure connection. The HOBLink Mobile app is also available for the Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod touch and will soon be available for mobile devices running Windows and Linux operating systems.
“We are very excited about this development,” said Klaus Brandstätter. “HOBLink Mobile was created specifically to provide a high level of security, convenience and ease of use for the end user. Having undergone an extensive product development phase and quality testing process, we are thrilled to have yet another channel to service new and existing users of the mobile workforce.”
More information on the Android and iOS version can be found on the HOB website.
To download HOBLink Mobile for Android visit the Google Play store.

Extracting business value from Internet of Things (IoT) data doesn’t happen overnight. There are several requirements that must be satisfied, including IoT device enablement, data analysis, real-time detection of complex events and automated orchestration of actions. Unfortunately, too many companies fall short in achieving their business goals by implementing incomplete solutions or not focusing on tangible use cases. In his general session at @ThingsExpo, Dave McCarthy, Director of Products...

There are several IoTs: the Industrial Internet, Consumer Wearables, Wearables and Healthcare, Supply Chains, and the movement toward Smart Grids, Cities, Regions, and Nations. There are competing communications standards every step of the way, a bewildering array of sensors and devices, and an entire world of competing data analytics platforms. To some this appears to be chaos. In this power panel at @ThingsExpo, moderated by Conference Chair Roger Strukhoff, Bradley Holt, Developer Advocate a...

The Internet of Things will challenge the status quo of how IT and development organizations operate. Or will it? Certainly the fog layer of IoT requires special insights about data ontology, security and transactional integrity. But the developmental challenges are the same: People, Process and Platform and how we integrate our thinking to solve complicated problems. In his session at 19th Cloud Expo, Craig Sproule, CEO of Metavine, will demonstrate how to move beyond today's coding paradigm ...

In addition to all the benefits, IoT is also bringing new kind of customer experience challenges - cars that unlock themselves, thermostats turning houses into saunas and baby video monitors broadcasting over the internet. This list can only increase because while IoT services should be intuitive and simple to use, the delivery ecosystem is a myriad of potential problems as IoT explodes complexity. So finding a performance issue is like finding the proverbial needle in the haystack.
