Avi Networks Announces a First-of-its-Kind Container Services Fabric for Mesosphere and Docker based Microservices Applications at Scale

Avi Networks, a leader in next generation application delivery and services, today announced the launch of an integrated solution with Mesosphere to help enterprises build and deploy microservices applications at scale using Docker Containers. Unlike monolithic applications for which static, appliance based load balancers were sufficient, dynamic microservices architectures require complete application services that match their agility.

The Avi Vantage Platform works with the Mesosphere Datacenter Operating System (DCOS) and Docker containers to provide a dynamic service fabric for micro-segmentation, service discovery, graphical application maps, load balancing, and autoscaling capabilities deployed across thousands of DCOS nodes. The solution also provides end-to-end visibility and application performance monitoring based on which it autoscales application instances predictively to adjust for real-time traffic patterns.

Avi Vantage and Mesosphere DCOS deliver the following key capabilities:

  • Full integration with the Mesosphere DCOS for automated, policy-driven deployments of apps and services
  • Comprehensive security services including micro-segmentation, DDoS protection, SSL, and web application security
  • Software load balancer with support for East-West traffic and automated configuration updates
  • Visibility to inter-service relationships with graphical application maps and application performance analytics
  • Predictive autoscaling of applications based on real time performance metrics

In conjunction with the launch, Avi Networks is also announcing free development and test licenses of its products that application developers can download along with complete documentation and a knowledge base. For more information, visit www.avinetworks.com/community.

Visit the Avi Networks booth at the Container World event in the Santa Clara Convention Center on February 17 and 18, 2016 to see a live demo.

“Mesosphere is redefining the way that enterprises run complex, highly scalable distributed applications,” said Ben Hindman, Co-Founder and Chief Architect, Mesosphere. “The Mesosphere Datacenter Operating System organizes and automates the entire computing infrastructure across the cloud or data centers and can launch thousands of containers in seconds. The Avi Vantage Platform complements the Mesosphere DCOS capabilities by delivering similar automation and agility for application services such as service discovery, load balancing, and security.”

“Applications running on truly evolved infrastructures require a solution for service discovery, security, and load balancing. Avi Networks is solving this critical need for application development teams with a software defined system that delivers these services elastically while ensuring they are centrally controlled and monitored,” said Josh Bernstein, Vice President, Technology at EMC Corporation.

“Mesosphere simplifies building and running distributed applications at scale, but until now supporting application services such as service discovery and load balancing have been disparate point solutions that can’t match the agility and automation that Mesosphere provides,” said Ranga Rajagopalan, CTO of Avi Networks. “Avi’s container service fabric automates application services and accelerates the path to production deployments. It empowers application owners and DevOps teams to easily deliver essential services for container applications.”

About Avi Networks

Avi Networks delivers public-cloud-like agility for application services beyond load balancing including deep application analytics, predictive autoscaling, and security in any private or public cloud. Unlike legacy ADCs, which are static and cause overprovisioning and overspending, the Avi Vantage Platform delivers elastic, software defined application services on commodity x86 servers, VMs, or containers. Avi Vantage provides application services as a dynamic pool of resources that matches the automation needs of private or public cloud initiatives. Fortune 500 technology, media, and financial services companies use Avi Networks to accelerate application delivery, enable self-service for application owners, and lower their TCO.

More and more brands have jumped on the IoT bandwagon. We have an excess of wearables – activity trackers, smartwatches, smart glasses and sneakers, and more that track seemingly endless datapoints. However, most consumers have no idea what “IoT” means. Creating more wearables that track data shouldn't be the aim of brands; delivering meaningful, tangible relevance to their users should be. We're in a period in which the IoT pendulum is still swinging. Initially, it swung toward "smart for smart...
