As Xandros CEO Andy Typaldos says: "Let's face it, most users are fed up with viruses, worms, and the installation of patches. For the first time there is a real alternative, a new desktop for the masses. You work with Xandros just like the 'other' desktop, only better."
Claiming “unmatched” compatibility with Windows, Typaldos says that even PC users who’ve never heard of Linux before can easily install and the Xandros Desktop.
“Users can migrate from Windows to Linux in a heartbeat," he adds.
What else does it offer aside from the 4-click install? A built-in Xandros Disc Burner that lets users write music or data CDs, for a start, plus OpenOffice.org 1.1 – which handles Microsoft Office documents, spreadsheets and presentations. The Publisher-compatible presentations program can export dynamic web shows to Macromedia Flash.
Pricing is competitive, and Xandros Desktop 2.0 will be available directly from Xandros online December 9th, as well as from software retailers.

This OS has major promise. Finally a true 'end user friendly' alternative to Microsoft. This will change the face of IT and rid the association of scary and complicated from the name Linux. I have watched the development of Corel Linux as it was the closest to ready and Xandros v2.0 looks set to be ready. Hats off to all of you at Xandros. |
