I can't believe someone would be acting idiot enough to make threats of any sort against anyone because one company is suing another...but, I wouldn't put it past SCO to do this to itself to set up a lie of paranoid delusions to make a case of hysterics publicly. About what - who knows. But, the public has been lied to so much about everything in life in the past 50 years - I would have to see hardcore evidence before I'd believe someone would stoop to being such a low intellect as to make idiot threats towards anyone - period...of any sorts except for maybe taking them to court. Actually - on second thought - I guess making threats out of court to damage people is what the CEO of SCO is doing so maybe some idiot of the same caliber is doing it back. I'd still have to see hard evidence though. I know SCO does it because the hardcore documents they have published to the public is pretty evident. But, for some silent person off in the world somewhere and no one seems to know who they are = I'd have to see the evidence. As mean and cruel as the world is - I just can't believe someone without interest would take the time to endanger themselves against the Company (U.S. and its Corporations) knowing that if they get caught will spend some hard time in Corporate Bars Hotel. Nah - this is either a publicity stunt or someone is out to lunch. I mean way out to lunch. Who in the heck would gain anything but those involved in the actual litigation? i think this is a case of SCO trying to make out to be the sacrificial lamb of their scrutiny on GPL and setting up the theatre to perform it out to its end. Lawyers fight lawyers - not geeks against lawyers and not poor people against rich people. There's really no contest. But, in any event - if it is true - I hope they catch the idiot because no one deserves to have threats made against them because they stand up for what's theirs. Evidently - some of Sys V made its way into Linux and SGI and others have fessed up and penalties will be paid and new contracts will be made if need be. And if it turns out that everyone has to pay SCO for some part of its code that makes Linux run at advanced levels - then so be it. But, that's to be decided in the courts. It's still better to have more than one OS to keep creativity and new competitions on the horizon - even if it has to be paid for. But, then if SCO sets the standard there - then all Linux users may well be owed something from SCO when it was Caldera for setting up the Linux platform and sucking all the used to be Windows users into its realm so it can eventually make them pay. Sort of like the "Bait and Switch" tactics that have been found to be illegal in the courts already. I know I would never had started using Linux if it hadn't been for Caldera. And I'm sure the Courts would recognize a bait and switch scheme if it's there. This is my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
