Lindows Trots Out OS for Laptops

Lindows Trots Out OS for Laptops

Lindows.com, which is fast becoming a past master at segmenting, has dreamed up a Laptop Edition of its operating system that’s supposed to have improved power management, a high degree of compatibility with Wi-Fi cards and the ability to take advantage of keyboard shortcuts to e-mail programs and browsers.

The OS extends battery life by putting the laptop to sleep.

It also reportedly only takes two steps to go from Ethernet to wireless.

Laptops are of course the only hot part of the PC market these days; supposedly the industry shipped 30 million laptops last year, 25% of the whole market.

PC Club is selling two Lindows-based models; one for $899, the other for $959. Standalone the OS costs $50 to download for people who are not Lindows customers.
