Red Flag Chief Reportedly Out

Last week the Chinese government ousted Red Flag Software Company president and CEO Liu Bo, who used to be a vice-president of Microsoft China, for being "too Western," an American ISV in communication with the firm said.

A pointed e-mail to him went unanswered.

The fact that Red Flag's been reportedly operating under Delaware law might have done it. Still, it's ironic considering the Chinese premier just rang the opening bell on an incredibly Western Wall Street the other day.

Liu joined Red Flag, which is anxious to dethrone Microsoft, in May of 2000 and the Chinese Linux outfit has recently tied up with American vendors like HP, IBM, Intel, Oracle and BEA.
