Of particular interest to the SYS-CON.TV audience were the remarks of Adobe's Mike Potter (pictured below), Flex product marketing manager at Adobe, who outlined the dynamism of Adobe's Flex approach to AJAX development, discussed how it integrates within the overall AJAX community, and how the company's updated server-side ColdFusion technology now integrates with it.
Potter was particularly enthusiastic about the manner in which designers and developers work together with Flex and ColdFusion, and expects this trend to continue with the improved integration found in the newly released CF8 Beta, which is the first version of ColdFusion to be branded under the Adobe name.
Adobe has apparently fully embraced the term AJAX as shorthand for front-end interface development, having become a member of the 70-company-strong OpenAJAX Alliance more than a year ago, and pushing aggressively its vision of how companies can benefit from the uniquely powerful front-end Flex development that Adobe offers to its customers.
Potter's remarks were made during an "RIA Shoot-Out" that was hosted by SYS-CON.TV founder and host Roger Strukhoff and carried live on SYS-CON.TV from the Reuters Studio overlooking Times Square in New York. The shoot-out also featured Nexaweb's Coach Wei, IONA's Debbie Moynihan, and noted ".NET Addict" Kevin Hoffman, and concluded with a lively question-and-answer session in its closing segments.
Keen viewer interest in Flex was indicated in the number of questions relating to it. The session will be posted by SYS-CON.TV for streaming to viewers who either missed the live broadcast or who wish to view it again.
