The Periodic Table of DevOps Tools v.2 Is Here
By Necco Ceresani

You’ve submitted your favorite tools, you’ve voted on what’s Hot or Not, and finally the wait is over. Today XebiaLabs launched the second version of The Periodic Table of DevOps Tools.

Since the launch of The Periodic Table of DevOps v.1 in July of 2015, the table has taken the IT world by storm. Organizing the DevOps tooling landscape had been a major pain point for anyone in the IT industry. The Periodic Table of DevOps Tools has not only alleviated this problem but has become an industry standard as a reference tool for all IT professionals. Over the past six months our team has been working diligently on updating the look and feel of the table, not to mention a cornucopia of new features.

Users now have the ability to dive deeper into each tool, finding tool descriptions, twitter handles, plugins and related tools. User will also find the table to be completely responsive in addition to some fun new animations. Below the fold, users are able to leave comments, as well as vote for their favorite tools using our Hot or Not DevOps tools game. If you can’t find your favorite DevOps tool on the table, check The Ultimate DevOps Tool Chest or feel free to submit it yourself.

Version 2 of The Periodic Table of DevOps Tools gave users a voice into which tools stayed and which tools were added using our DevOps Hot or Not game. With tens of thousands of votes and hundreds of tool submissions it was a tough choice, but we have been able to update our tooling landscape with the most popular tools on the market today. Additionally every tool submitted over the past year has been given a place in the Ultimate DevOps Tool Chest, with new tools being added daily.

Finally, we would like to say thank you to all of our friends who have voted, submitted, and shared. This table wouldn’t exist without the continued support of the IT community and all of our friends around the world.

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
