Tom Wong, VP of Engineering for Attune Systems,
will be speaking at the upcoming Virtualization Conference & Expo 2007 in
San Francisco at the Grand Hyatt San Francisco November 11-12. Wong's session
will define and present the elements of file virtualization and its similarity
and differences from server virtualization. In his presentation, titled "Riding the Wave of Virtualization," Wong intends to examine the question: is file virtualization the next great IT wave?
He will define and present the elements of file virtualization and its similarity and differences from server virtualization. The session will include different approaches to achieve file virtualization and the pros and cons associated with these approaches. He will also explain from the technical perspective how file virtualization technology is being used as a solution to broad-based storage management challenges.
Finally, drawing on his unique experience from having successfully implemented both the Linux-based and the Windows-based file virtualization appliances, Wong will share his vision for the future of file virtualization as it expands from the data center to the edges of customer networks and eventually to the laptops of the mobile users.
"At the end of the session," Wong says, "the attendees should be able to judge whether File Virtualization is indeed the next Great Wave."
