As enterprises gain comfort with the principles of service
orientation and begin adopting SOA for large-scale, business-critical
applications, they must invariably grapple with the traditional
"ilities," e.g., reliability, scalability, and agility that challenge
the architects of demanding applications. In this presentation Bob Lozano explores an
emerging solution to these challenges – grid-based service virtualization
frameworks. By providing a runtime distributed service container that abstracts
service instances from the infrastructure on which they run, service
virtualization approaches are enabling savvy enterprises to achieve high
qualities of service for their Java, .NET, and C/C++ services.
