Whereas in the past, Linux has been a software underdog when it comes to providing the core systems for dedicated hosting companies, Macer contends that with its new benchmarks and the ability to run cross platform on both 32-bit x86 chips and the 64-bit x86 chips, SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server is the perfect fit for OSI and their IBM xSeries Products.
"I have followed the progress of SUSE from their 7.0 personnel edition, up to the new 9.0 version for the enterprise, and I can say they are the best choice for OSI," Macer states. "We are not on a crusade here; we're on something even better. We're out here to show the world that Linux is better than Windows. That is not to say that Linux is right for everyone just yet."
In conjunction with IBM, Agilysys, and Novell, OSI is rolling out 12,000 IBM xSeries servers running SUSE Linux, along with several hundred Apple xServes. In September, OSI will add 10,000 additional IBM xSeries servers powered by SUSE Linux.

This is lowbrow reporting, even for Sys-Con. Mercer is a convicted felon out to defraud people. His many wild claims include having more then 1million sq ft of colocation space, 25,000 blade servers and 800 employees (all taken from press releases at OSIHOSTING.COM); none of which are even remotely true. To date the only thing anyone has been able to verify is that he is reselling server space on three EV1 servers. Jason Macer is a fraud and could very well be mentally insane. He has pulled these types of schemes before, defrauding the city of Dallas, various real estate agents, contractors, furniture vendors, etc... ANYONE who considers him or his company the least bit legitimate has clearly not done their homework. I sympathize with the city of Texarkana, but they should have done their homework first. |

Everything you can find about OSI Hosting is groundless. It's either a hoax, a scam, or a very elaborate self-delusion. I think there's a deeper story here -- about how it is possible to fool all of the people all of the time when the internet is the medium. At least for a while. Look into the facts behind this 'company' and you will find yourself a very interesting story. |

...we live in Texarkana. Jason Macer is from New Boston, Tx. and does not even own a car. He has no employees and has scammed our community, claiming to be bringing 6-8000 jobs, then changing his website after being exposed. LinuxWorld should take this down. CC |

I use a iBook. I like Mac OS X. But what does using Mac OS X have to do with Open Source or proving that Linux is better than Windows? Perhaps its not OSI that confused the message but the reporter forgot to add "and UNIX" to Linux as being better than Windows. |

It is great to see a company taking the steps required to really push a wonderful operating system like SUSE. Kudos to OSI |
