CHICAGO, June 26 /PRNewswire/ -- A recent TripAdvisor.com survey showed 90 percent of Americans are still planning summer vacations, with 71 percent of respondents anticipating flying to their destinations. Rising travel costs, and tighter budgets, however, call for less expensive, more creative options.
Travel experts at GO Airport Shuttle, the nation's largest ground transportation company, suggest enhancing a summer getaway by choosing a destination that coincides with local summer festivals.
"Festivals augment a vacation and many come free of charge or at bargain rates," says John McCarthy, president, GO Airport Shuttle.
Some fun festival suggestions among cities serviced by GO Airport Shuttle members include:
-- Milwaukee, Wisconsin: Summerfest, June 26-July 6 The world's largest music festival -- over 700 bands -- includes acts such as John Mellencamp, Jonas Brothers, Tim McGraw and more. -- Seattle: Seattle International BeerFest, July 4-6 Taste over 130 world-class beers from more than 15 countries at the Seattle Center. -- Boston: Italia Unita, July 18-20 This festival has concerts from Paul London, 3 Swingin' Tenors, Pietro Esteriore and more, while also hosting the world's largest Italian sausage eating contest. -- Fort Worth, Tx: The 9th Annual Gran Fiesta, July 25-27 This Fiesta is a three-day celebration of Hispanic music and culture.
