IXI Mobile Joins Open Mobile Terminal Platform Group

LONDON, Jan. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- IXI Mobile, Inc., developer of mass market messaging devices and feature phone operating system software, today announced that it has joined the Open Mobile Terminal Platform (OMTP) group, an organization aimed at defining open mobile platform requirements and aiding mobile operators in delivering a consistent set of services across a variety of devices.

The OMTP organization is comprised of industry leaders and some of the most influential players in mobile communications. The addition of IXI Mobile brings the number of members to over 40, demonstrating the increasing stature and momentum of the organization.

The OMTP group was established in June 2004 by eight international Mobile Operators -- Orange, Vodafone, T-Mobile, NTT DoCoMo, mmO2, Smart Communications, Telecom Italia Mobile ("TIM") and Telefonica Moviles.
