Cloud Computing Expo - Fujitsu Apes HP/EDS

HP's Acquisition of EDS Persuaded Fujitsu That There's Money To Be Made In the Services Sector

Evidently HP’s acquisition of EDS persuaded Fujitsu that there’s money to be made in the services sector because it’s combining its US product and service businesses under one roof to drive revenue growth and help it compete against IBM and HP.

On October 1, the doors will open on a newly created Fujitsu North America Holding Inc, a consolidation – but not apparently an integration – of Fujitsu Consulting Inc, Fujitsu Computer Systems Corporation and Fujitsu Transaction Solutions Inc with a collective revenue base approaching $2 billion a year.

Farhat Ali will be president and CEO of the new company. He’s supposed to lead the business synergy effort of the new operation while continuing with his current responsibilities as president of Fujitsu Computer Systems.

Fujitsu, which expects the operation to rank among the top North American IT services and solution companies, figures the new structure will generate greater synergies and a broader portfolio of integrated solutions while basically making the company more responsive to customers, who will now have greater access to the complete suite of integrated Fujitsu offerings.

Fujitsu said the scale of the operation should result in faster time-to-market, greater market presence, improved operational efficiencies and additional support from its key alliance partners.
