SAN FRANCISCO, Interwoven GearUp '05 ECM Solutions Conference, May 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Interwoven, Inc. , provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions for business, today announced that it continues to extend its leadership in the legal market as approximately 1,000 law firm and over 100 corporate legal department customers now rely on its industry-leading Collaborative Document Management (CDM) system to streamline business processes, increase productivity and improve client service. Interwoven's market success has been driven by its continued focus on delivering innovative new technology, the growing adoption of its unique matter-centric collaboration (MCC) approach, and an extensive solutions partner network. Currently, Interwoven has 57 of the AmLaw 100 and 106 of the AmLaw 200 as customers (the definitive rankings of the largest American law firms).

Worldwide, law firms and corporate legal departments continue to adopt Interwoven CDM, powered by Interwoven WorkSite 8 software, to address the increasing challenge of managing documents and e-mails in a single consistent manner. With its unique MCC approach, WorkSite 8 provides the industry's most complete offering for law firms and corporate legal departments to manage critical content, enhance client and business relationships, enable efficient collaboration over distance and improve attorney and staff utilization. Already, over 350 legal customers have adopted or upgraded to WorkSite 8. Recent law firm customers to adopt the Interwoven solution include McGuire Woods; DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary; Luce Forward Hamilton & Scripps; Gibbons, Del Deo, Dolan, Griffinger & Vecchione; and Davies Arnold Cooper, a leading commercial law firm with offices in the UK, Spain and Latin America. Corporate legal department customers who have recently adopted Interwoven include PalmSource; Dolby Laboratories; Great Clips; NiSource; and many others.

"We selected Interwoven not only because they are an established leader in the legal technology market, but because their matter-centric collaboration approach will enable us to address the full scope of our needs, making it simple for attorneys to access, share and collaborate around any type of content, from any location," said Rod Satterwhite, partner, McGuire Woods, an AmLaw 100 firm. "Interwoven will serve as the platform on which to expand our existing knowledge management systems and serve our clients even more effectively." Support of the implementation at McGuire Woods will be provided by Interwoven legal industry partner Baker Robbins. Added Satterwhite, "Interwoven's tightly-integrated partnership with Baker Robbins will be extremely valuable throughout the implementation process."

The corporate legal department of PalmSource also chose Interwoven over the competition. "We selected Interwoven Collaborative Document Management for our corporate legal department because it provides the best solution available on the market today to efficiently manage PalmSource's legal documentation, and because it was offered by our existing and trusted ECM vendor, Interwoven," said Ginna Raahauge, vice president of IT at PalmSource. "Moving forward, we expect to streamline all legal work, from the time it takes to complete compliance-related tasks, to working with outside counsel, to completing contracts for sales."

Innovative Technologies Transform Legal IT

A key driver of Interwoven's legal market momentum has been continuous technological innovation of the products that power its legal solutions. Matter-centric collaboration (MCC), the unique paradigm at the heart of WorkSite 8, has gained broad acceptance across the industry by enabling lawyers for the first time to manage matter-related content in the electronic world the way they have done for more than a century in the physical world. MCC creates the true electronic equivalent of a case file by consolidating documents, e-mails, billing, contacts and all other relevant content for any given matter in a single integrated file that is accessible both internally and externally across departments and locations.

With MCC serving as the organizational foundation of matter-related material, Interwoven has further enhanced its industry-leading legal offerings with the introduction of Interwoven OffSite, which enables the use of WorkSite 8 while disconnected from the network, delivering a 'portable' document management capability for the mobile worker. Interwoven OffSite dramatically improves mobile CDM productivity by enabling users to easily access the virtual equivalent of their briefcase or client file-including the organizational structure, documents, e-mails, scanned images and other content-even when disconnected from the network. New and modified documents and filed e-mails are automatically synchronized with the entire matter or client file upon synchronization with the network. With the addition of OffSite, WorkSite is now the most complete mobile-enabled collaborative document management offering on the market.

Interwoven also recently introduced the Interwoven RecordsManager product, enabling law firms and corporate legal departments to consistently and efficiently manage electronic, paper and e-mail records. In the past, organizations have relied on records management strategies designed solely for paper records, which are based on labor-intensive manual processes for classification and administration. With the explosive growth of electronic records and e-mail, the fundamental lack of scalability of this method is compounded by the lack of an integrated solution encompassing paper, electronic records and e-mail, forcing companies to maintain separate silos. Interwoven RecordsManager allows for centralized control over decentralized content, bringing all forms of records throughout an organization into a single, seamless environment.

Leading Legal Industry Partners Drive Growth

Interwoven's partners continue to play a key role in the company's market success. The Interwoven PartnerNetwork includes more than 200 companies worldwide. Many of these partners have the choice of implementing alternate competitive document management systems; however, in the first quarter of 2005 alone, Interwoven partners drove approximately 75 percent of Interwoven's competitive replacement deals, representing approximately 5,600 seats.

RBRO Solutions, an Interwoven partner in Canada recently signed Cassels Brock, a leading Canadian law firm based in Toronto. Cassels Brock will use Interwoven for matter-centric document management, collaboration and e-mail management firm-wide. Examples of other recent legal customer wins driven through Interwoven partners include: Speechly Bircham (Tikit); Luce Forward (Featherstone Consulting); and Miller & Chevalier (Younts Consulting).

"Interwoven's momentum in the legal market reflects our strong commitment to helping both law firms and corporate legal departments succeed with critical initiatives like e-mail management, matter-centric collaboration, and business continuity," said Chris Junker, general manager and vice president, legal and compliance products and solutions at Interwoven. "Our focus on technological innovation, strong partner network and our unique industry-leading matter-centric vision all play a vital role in addressing the requirements of this industry, and we remain dedicated to meeting the evolving needs of our legal customers."

@ThingsExpo Stories
Too often with compelling new technologies market participants become overly enamored with that attractiveness of the technology and neglect underlying business drivers. This tendency, what some call the “newest shiny object syndrome,” is understandable given that virtually all of us are heavily engaged in technology. But it is also mistaken. Without concrete business cases driving its deployment, IoT, like many other technologies before it, will fade into obscurity.
With the proliferation of connected devices underpinning new Internet of Things systems, Brandon Schulz, Director of Luxoft IoT – Retail, will be looking at the transformation of the retail customer experience in brick and mortar stores in his session at @ThingsExpo. Questions he will address include: Will beacons drop to the wayside like QR codes, or be a proximity-based profit driver? How will the customer experience change in stores of all types when everything can be instrumented and analyzed? As an area of investment, how might a retail company move towards an innovation methodolo...
Contrary to mainstream media attention, the multiple possibilities of how consumer IoT will transform our everyday lives aren’t the only angle of this headline-gaining trend. There’s a huge opportunity for “industrial IoT” and “Smart Cities” to impact the world in the same capacity – especially during critical situations. For example, a community water dam that needs to release water can leverage embedded critical communications logic to alert the appropriate individuals, on the right device, as soon as they are needed to take action.
Manufacturing connected IoT versions of traditional products requires more than multiple deep technology skills. It also requires a shift in mindset, to realize that connected, sensor-enabled “things” act more like services than what we usually think of as products. In his session at @ThingsExpo, David Friedman, CEO and co-founder of Ayla Networks, will discuss how when sensors start generating detailed real-world data about products and how they’re being used, smart manufacturers can use the data to create additional revenue streams, such as improved warranties or premium features. Or slash...
WebRTC services have already permeated corporate communications in the form of videoconferencing solutions. However, WebRTC has the potential of going beyond and catalyzing a new class of services providing more than calls with capabilities such as mass-scale real-time media broadcasting, enriched and augmented video, person-to-machine and machine-to-machine communications. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Luis Lopez, CEO of Kurento, will introduce the technologies required for implementing these ideas and some early experiments performed in the Kurento open source software community in areas ...

While many app developers are comfortable building apps for the smartphone, there is a whole new world out there. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Narayan Sainaney, Co-founder and CTO of Mojio, will discuss how the business case for connected car apps is growing and, with open platform companies having already done the heavy lifting, there really is no barrier to entry.
As more intelligent IoT applications shift into gear, they’re merging into the ever-increasing traffic flow of the Internet. It won’t be long before we experience bottlenecks, as IoT traffic peaks during rush hours. Organizations that are unprepared will find themselves by the side of the road unable to cross back into the fast lane. As billions of new devices begin to communicate and exchange data – will your infrastructure be scalable enough to handle this new interconnected world?
All major researchers estimate there will be tens of billions devices - computers, smartphones, tablets, and sensors - connected to the Internet by 2020. This number will continue to grow at a rapid pace for the next several decades. With major technology companies and startups seriously embracing IoT strategies, now is the perfect time to attend @ThingsExpo, November 3-5, 2015, at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara, CA. Learn what is going on, contribute to the discussions, and ensure that your enterprise is as "IoT-Ready" as it can be.
The Internet of Things is in the early stages of mainstream deployment but it promises to unlock value and rapidly transform how organizations manage, operationalize, and monetize their assets. IoT is a complex structure of hardware, sensors, applications, analytics and devices that need to be able to communicate geographically and across all functions. Once the data is collected from numerous endpoints, the challenge then becomes converting it into actionable insight.

With the Apple Watch making its way onto wrists all over the world, it’s only a matter of time before it becomes a staple in the workplace. In fact, Forrester reported that 68 percent of technology and business decision-makers characterize wearables as a top priority for 2015. Recognizing their business value early on, FinancialForce.com was the first to bring ERP to wearables, helping streamline communication across front and back office functions. In his session at @ThingsExpo, Kevin Roberts, GM of Platform at FinancialForce.com, will discuss the value of business applications on wearable ...
