Linux Internet Cafe Software Allows Multiple Users To Share Single Desktop
Reduces Internet Cafe Costs And Setup Time For LinuxWorld London, GroupWise European Summit

Omni Technology Solutions and its partner in the UK, Blueloop, have partnered to deliver LinuxWorld London's Internet cafe. The Internet cafe will consist of 12 independent Linux workstations running on two Intel Pentium 4 3Ghz desktops with 2 GB of RAM. The Linux Desktop Multiplier software has been used to provide low-cost, high-performance Internet cafes at other major technology conferences including GWAVACon, GroupWise European Summit and BrainStormer UK.

"By eliminating nine out of every 10 physical PCs, the Linux Desktop Multiplier enables trade show organisers, school districts and governments to drive more value out of their fixed budgets," says Trevor Poapst, Director of Global Marketing for Omni. "The Linux Desktop Multiplier's '10-for-1' value proposition is ideal for Linux-based computer labs, Internet cafes, retail POS terminals and call centres."

"The Linux Desktop Multiplier is an ideal complement to Novell's SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 and OpenSUSE offerings," says Garry Hodgson, OEM Business Development Manager at Novell South Africa. "We recently used the Linux Desktop Multiplier to deploy 2,205 desktops in 105 South African schools. We are pursuing 'Multiplied' SLED 10 opportunities with other corporate, education and government customers who require large numbers of low-cost, high-performance desktops."

"At GWAVACon Dallas 2005, attendees were very impressed with the Linux Desktop Multiplier," says Richard Bliss, VP of Marketing for GWAVA. "In the past, we had installed and configured multiple individual machines to deliver public Internet access. After seeing the Linux Internet cafe software used successfully at the GroupWise European Summit, we decided to use it for our Internet cafes at GWAVACon Dallas and GWAVACon Europe."

"The Linux Desktop Multiplier enabled us to deliver a 12-user Internet cafe on two SLED 10 desktop computers at our BrainStormer UK event," says Peter Atkins, Managing Director of MindWorks Inc Ltd. "With only two machines to install and configure, the Internet cafe was up and running in less than 30 minutes. The Internet cafe was busy during the entire event. Attendees were surprised to discover they were sharing a regular desktop computer."
