Performance Technologies' NexusWare Core V11 Successfully Achieves Carrier-Grade Linux Registration
Undergoes Successful Validations And Registers Compliance With OSDL Carrier Grade Linux 3.2 Specification

Performance Technologies, developer of communication platforms and systems, announced its Linux OS and development environment, NexusWare Core V11 has undergone successful validation and has registered compliance with the Open Source Developments Labs (OSDL) Carrier Grade Linux (CGL) 3.2 specification.

Additionally, this latest release of NexusWare Core is based on the 2.6 Linux kernel and adds support for IPv6, enhanced configuration and management tools, an integrated SIP stack, and NexusWare Studio, Performance Technologies' Eclipse-based integrated development environment.

NexusWare Core is a comprehensive, highly integrated, Linux-based software distribution designed to speed time-to-market for system engineers using Performance Technologies' solutions to build packet-based wireless and IP telephony systems. With CGL registration, NexusWare Core will enhance its current Linux capabilities in key areas such as performance, security and reliability, making it an attractive alternative to expensive proprietary operating systems for telecom servers.

"Carriers and network equipment providers are deploying Linux-based solutions like NexusWare to reduce infrastructure costs and accelerate delivery of new applications in telecommunications infrastructure," said Bill Weinberg, senior technology analyst, OSDL. "OSDL welcomes the NexusWare Core registration. With its range of hardware support and real-time capabilities, we anticipate it will have a strong and positive impact on CGL adoption across telecommunications and networking applications."

Carrier Grade Linux (CGL) is a key enabler of the move from costly, proprietary architectures to open standards-based architectures. The CGL 3.2 specification was developed by the OSDL CGL working group, and focuses on seven essential technology areas: availability, clusters, serviceability, performance, standards, hardware and security.

"Through this registration, NexusWare Core continues to solidify itself as an essential building block for engineers using our industry-leading application-ready platforms and communications products," said John Grana, senior vice president of systems engineering for Performance Technologies. "Its basis on open standards and high levels of availability, reliability, performance and service response time provides equipment manufacturers with a cost-efficient way to provide service and accelerate the deployment of their mission-critical services."
