BakBone Gets Certification of NetVault: Backup on Oracle Enterprise Linux
BakBone Feeds Linux Demand

Digg This!

(November 26, 2007) - BakBone Software, a member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork, announced that BakBone NetVault: Backup is now certified on Oracle Enterprise Linux.

Increased customer demand for Linux is driving the adoption of Linux-based applications and databases, making the need for enterprise-class Linux data protection greater than ever. The Oracle Enterprise Linux certification combines BakBone’s NetVault: Backup with Oracle Unbreakable Linux support, providing mutual users with easy-to-use support for their Linux environments.

Oracle Enterprise Linux is fully compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and through the Oracle Unbreakable Linux Support program, Oracle provides customers with global support for Linux.

NetVault: Backup, BakBone’s data protection solution for Linux, Windows, Solaris and Mac OS, provides the broadest Linux capabilities in the storage management market. With the Oracle Enterprise Linux certification, BakBone also simplifies data protection for Oracle Databases running on the Linux platform with the NetVault: Backup Application Plugin Module (APM) for Oracle 5.0.

“As the industry’s leading solutions provider on Linux and with more than 82 percent share for Relational Database on Linux, we are seeing very strong momentum with the Oracle Unbreakable Linux support program,” said Monica Kumar, senior director Linux and open source product marketing, Oracle. “Increasingly, organizations are embracing Linux for ease of use, scalability and flexibility, and we are pleased to be working with BakBone, a leader in the Linux data protection space, to provide customers with comprehensive Linux solutions.”

NetVault: Backup is certified on both 32-bit and 64-bit Oracle Enterprise Linux. Announced October 1, the newest release of NetVault: Backup introduces integrated, Continuous Data Protection (CDP) capabilities for Linux and Windows and also expands NetVault: Backup's feature set by enhancing operational efficiency, reducing system downtime, improving data availability and increasing security to support the business growth of enterprise environments. Version 5.0 of NetVault: Backup APM for Oracle, announced, features both methods of Oracle Database backup, user-managed and RMAN-based backups, to restore complete databases, individual tablespaces or individual data files faster and more reliably.
